TRACIT-300 heat transfer cement (compound) hardens when cured. This product is recommended for use on steam, hot oil, and glycol heat tracing (tubing) installations where the upper temperature limit will not exceed 750°F (400°C).
TRACIT-300 is used for high temperature process maintenance and freeze protection on straight run piping, valves, elbows, pumps, and flanges. This compound forms a highly conductive bond between the heater and process line. A single heat trace line installed with TRACIT-300 is equal to 3+ bare tracers.
TRACIT-300 is also used with heating jackets, and with plate-type coil applications exceeding the temperature limits of our non-hardening compounds.
Maximum usage temperature: 750°F (400°C)
Minimum usage temperature: -320°F (-196°C)
Minimum installation temperature: 32°F (0°C)
Heat transfer coefficient, Ut, heat source (tracer) to pipe wall: 20-40 Btu/hr•°F•ft2 (114-227 w/m2•°C)
Bonding strength: 200-275 lbs/in2
Water-soluble: Yes
Nominal electrical resistivity: 0.365 ohms-inch (0.927 ohms-cm)
Shelf life: 1.5 years in unopened can. Keep lid sealed tightly when not in use. Store at room temperature. Tracit-300 is serviceable as long as it is moist and adheres to contact surface.
Container sizes: 5-gallon can, 1-gallon can, quart can, pint can, 10 or 32 oz. caulk cartridge, 55-
gallon drums.
TRACIT-300WW should be requested when lower viscosity is required.
TRACIT-600A is recommended for process temperatures exceeding 750°F.
Tracit-300 is slightly alkaline. Wear protective gloves and glasses when handling. Chemax CC Channels are recommended for use on straight tracing for faster installation, weather protection, and less wasted material.
It is optimal to remove loose paint, rust, scale, grease, etc. from contact surface before applying Tracit-300.
Remove lid and stir compound. Using a brick (mortar) trowel, apply a thin layer (1/4") onto pipe line tracer, fully encasing it in the Tracit-300. For non-tracing applications, consult system manufacturer for further instructions.
Cure Tracit-300 by heating for 12-24 hours at 180°F to 212°F (82°C-100°C), or air-drying above 32°F until Tracit-300 has fully hardened. If application thickness exceeds an inch, apply compound in one-inch layers to reduce sagging. Allow Tracit-300 to cure between layer applications. No curing required when installing with Chemax CC Channels or with plate-type coil applications.
Protect TRACIT-300 from moisture during installation. Do not expose to acid. May be removed using water.
Store at room temperature. Keep lid sealed tightly when not in use. A small amount of water (one ounce per gallon) may be mixed into the Tracit-300 if it has become too thick for application.
